NEWLY designated Prosecutor General Victor Sepulveda on Monday vowed to inventory all the cases being handled by the National Prosecution Service and to be updated on them.
“I intend to meet with the senior deputy prosecutors to brief me on what is going on especially on the pending cases,” Sepulveda told reporters.
He replaced Makati Chief Prosecutor Jorge Galvez Catalan Jr. who was designated NPS officer-in-charge after Prosecutor General Claro Arellano took a leave of absence, and before taking over his new post as head of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration at the request of Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III.
Sepulveda has been a govern prosecutor for 29 years. He is a fraternity brother of Duterte and Aguirre in Lex Talionis and an old friend of the Dutertes.
There are six cases pending against former Justice secretary and now Senator Leila De Lima before the Justice department, where the panel of prosecutors have submitted five of the six cases for resolution while one has been filed before the Quezon City Metropolitan Trial Court.
Sepulveda said they will resolve cases on a first-come, first-served basis and not on whether or not it is high-profile.
