The carriage or “andas” of the Black Nazarene has just passed by the Manila City Hall at 12 noon on Monday.
It is now along Mehan Garden heading to Liwasang Bonifacio and Jones Bridge.
The Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) puts the number of devotees joining the “traslacion” at 500,000 so far, while about 10,000 devotees are at Plaza Miranda in Quiapo.
Many of those in the procession say they are thirsty, citing the warm, sunny weather.
Cloudy condition is beginning to prevail in the early afternoon.
Medical teams and street cleaners follow the procession.
The Phillippine Red Cross have treated barefoot devotees for minor injuries and fatigue.
No untoward incident has occurred at this time.
PNP Chief Ronald dela Rosa says, the procession is going on smoothly.
President Rodrigo Duterte is monitoring the event from Malacanang, along with cabinet members.
