The PNP National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has asked PNP Chief Ronald Dela Rosa to suspend the permits to carry firearms (PTCs) in Manila during the procession of Black Nazarene on Monday, January 9.
PNP-NCRPO Director Chief Supt. Oscar Albayalde says, the suspension of the PTCs will begin at 8 am on Sunday, January 8 until 8 am on Tuesday, January 10 or 48 hours.
Police are intensifying the campaign against criminality in Manila starting tonight (Thursday).
They will strictly enforce the ban against drinking in public places.
PNP is deploying over 4,000 cops for the procession.
More than 600 soldiers will also be assigned along the route of the ‘traslacion.’
The PNP reminds those who will join the procession that backpacks will be prohibited as part of security measures.
For his part, Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada has announced the suspension classes in all levels in Manila and work in the city government on Monday.
