PNP: No stray bullet casualties in Cavite

IMUS, Cavite—Through an effective information campaign and community cooperation, Cavite Police’s zero stray-bullet casualty goal was achieved for New Year 2017 revelry after many years, Police Supt. Janet L. Arinabo, chief of the Provincial Public Information Office in Camp General Pantaleon Garcia said.

Cavite province has not recorded indiscriminate firing or illegal discharge of firearm incident during the New Year’s celebration. Posting of informative materials on the PNP’s campaign on zero-incident indiscriminate firing and pre-emptive security measures were also implemented, Arinabo said.

Cavite saw increased deployment of PNP personnel in the streets and active support and cooperation from the Local Government Executives, friendly forces, other external stakeholders and the community have immensely contributed in the achievement of a peaceful celebration.

After the Chief PNP’s pronouncement for a zero-incident on indiscriminate firing, Police Sr. Supt. Arthur V. Bisnar, Cavite Police Provincial Director immediately ordered the municipal Chiefs of Police as well as the Chief of the Special Weapons Action Team and Commander of the Provincial Public Safety Company to take on the marching order. 

Police commissioned officers assigned in the Provincial Headquarters were also designated as area supervisors to ensure the presence of PNP personnel in their respective areas of deployment while coordination with Local LCEs and friendly forces was initiated to get their support.

Firecracker injuries have significantly decreased as compared to previous years while there was no significant untoward incident happened for the period. The New Year’s celebration in Cavite province is assessed to be peaceful and orderly.

Cavite Police Operatives has also confiscated several types of firecrackers with an estimated value of P49,000 for violation of R.A 7183 (An Act Regulating the Sale, Manufacture, Distribution and Use of Firecrackers and Other Pyrotechnics Devices).  

Police Sr. Supt. Bisnar expressed his gratitude to the Caviteños for their cooperation and commended all the members of the Cavite Police for effectively performing their duties particularly in the maintenance of peace and order in welcoming the New Year.
