In line with its disaster response advocacy and ongoing rehabilitation program in provinces battered by calamities, BDO Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of BDO Unibank, has renovated the Cauayan City Health Office I in Cauayan City, Isabela.
The province was one of several areas affected by Typhoon “Lando” in 2015.
The inauguration and turnover of the rehabilitated structure was led by BDO North Eastern Luzon area head Rene Gongora, BDO Foundation program director Rose Espinosa, and BDO Isabela-Cauayan branch head Neil Guimmayen, who recommended the rural health unit to the foundation.
Local government officials represented by Cauayan City Mayor Bernard Faustino Dy, Vice Mayor Leoncio Dalin, and city health officer Dr. Bernadynn Bengie Reyes accepted the improved health center on behalf of the city.
Working with local government and health officials, BDO Foundation refurbished the health office’s facilities, offices, clinics, consultation rooms, treatment rooms and breastfeeding area.
A play area for children, complete with books and toys, as well as a waiting lounge for the elderly were constructed.
The foundation also improved the health center’s birthing clinic, an initiative that supports the United Nations Millennium Development Goal for maternal healthcare.
The rehabilitation of the health office helps improve the delivery of healthcare services to underprivileged patients. Because of the project, Cauayan’s residents have better access to nutritional, dental, laboratory, consultation, birthing, maternal and child care services.
The improvements will benefit more than 100,000 individuals from 35 barangays, Reyes said.
