THE Ombudsman Graft Busters’ win last Sunday allowed the BFP Fire Fighters to seal a slot in the second-round elimination of the UNTV Cup Season 5.
For this, Coach Ramon Garcia’s BFP side is thankful that their efforts in the first round have paid off.
“Salamat, I told the boys it’s going to be a payback game, bawi lang tayo,” Garcia said, whose wards play the Judiciary Magis on Sunday at 2 p.m. as Group A teams take on teams in Group B.
The Magis are preparing even harder for Sunday’s faceoff.
“Dapat talaga mag-double time kami, tapos ‘yung preparations namin, kailangan lang talaga practice hard. Sabi nga ng coaching staff, kailangan tulong tulong, hindi puwedeng mag-relax, kasi sa second round lahat ng team talagang malalakas,” Judiciary coach Dennis Balason said.
In the second game at 3:30 p.m., the MMDA Blackwolves take on the NHA Builders.
MMDA coach Mandeville Martires admitted they still have many areas to improve on as they prepare for Sunday’s battle.
“Unang una ‘yung executions ng plays, gel ng team. Ang dami pa naming kailangang i-improve. Hindi naman kami tumitigil mag-improve. Every season kailangan naming mag-improve,” Martires said.
In the third game, two-time champion AFP Cavaliers battle three-time championship contender PNP Responders.
Half-time entertainment will be provided by Ruby Velano, Rodante Boton and Jervy Esmiller.
