Edgar Matobato, who claims to have been a member of the Davao Death Squad (DDS), has filed criminal complaints against President Rodrigo Duterte at the Ombudsman.
He has also named Duterte’s son, Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, and PNP Chief Ronald Dela Rosa as respondents.
Matobato filed several charges, including murder, kidnapping and genocide, against the three government officials and 25 other individuals.
Atty. Jude Josue Sabio submitted the complaint at the Ombudsman on Friday morning.
Matobato claims to have witnessed the presence of President Duterte in a past incident wherein a victim was allegedly fired upon.
Sabio says, his client is aware that the President has presidential immunity from suit. Hence, they are leaving it up to the Ombudsman to decide on the cases.
