The House Committee on Justice has approved the bill seeking the revival of death penalty.
12 committee members voted ‘yes’ to the measure while 5 voted ‘no.’

The measure will now be brought to the plenary for debates.
House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez previously expected the bill to be passed before Congress goes on Christmas break.
Death penalty was banned in the country when Former President Gloria Arroyo signed into law Republic Act 9346 in 2006.
