A FORMER town health officer from Zamboanga del Sur is facing trial before the Sandiganbayan for violation of Republic Act 3019, or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.

The Office of the Ombudsman indicted former Margosatubig health officer George Comendador for falsely representing himself as a licensed physician.

In a seven-page resolution, the Ombudsman directed the filing of an Information against Comendador after confirming that he was not a doctor listed on the database of the Professional Regulations Commission.

The Ombudsman explained that the municipality of Margosatubig “suffered undue injury” as it paid Comendador salaries and other benefits worth P4,388,378.60 starting from January 1996 until his retirement in May 2013.
