THE Ombudsman has directed the suspension of Sulu Gov. Abdusakur Tan II, his father former vice governor Abdusakur Tan and brother Maimbung, Sulu Mayor Samier Abubakar Tan for supposed failure to comply with Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.
In a six-page decision, the Ombudsman found vice governor Tan and Mayor Tan guilty of non-filing or improper filing of their statements of assets, liabilities, and net worth for several years.
“The OMB Certification dated 26 May 2016 confirms the respondents Vice Gov. Tan, Samier (Tan), and Al-Zhudurie failed to filed their SALNs on or before April 30 of every year as required [by law]. Considering the habituality of not filing their SALNs, this office hereby imposes the penalty of suspension from office without pay for a period of six months,” the Ombudsman’s decision read.
