Southern Cagayan & Isabela placed under Signal Number 4

PAGASA has placed Southern Cagayan and Isabela under Typhoon Signal Number 4.

Typhoon Signal Number 3 is up over the rest of Cagayan, Apayao, Ilocos Sur, Mountain Province, Quirino and Northern Aurora.

Signal Number 2 is up over Calayan group of islands, La Union, Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya, Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, rest of Aurora and Tarlac.

Signal Number 1 is up over Batanes group of islands, Zambales, Pampanga, Bulacan, Bataan, Northern Quezon including Polillo Island and Metro Manila.

Weather forecasters warn, Signal Number 5 might be raised on Wednesday afternoon as ‘Lawin’ may develop into a super typhoon.

These development come, as ‘Lawin’ further intensifies and continues to threaten Cagayan and Isabela.

As of 11 am Wednesday, it was located 385 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora.

It packs maximum sustained winds of up to 220 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 305 kph.

'Lawin' is forecast to move west northwest at 26 kph.

It is expected to make landfall at 11 pm Wednesday or at 2 am Thursday in Cagayan, Isabela and cross Apayao and Ilocos Norte.

By Friday, the typhoon is expected to be out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
