A new typhoon is set to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday afternoon.
PAGASA says, it will arrive between 4 to 6 pm.
It has an international name of ‘Haima’ and will be called ‘Lawin’ once it arrives.
Its currentl location is 1,265 kilometers east of Visayas.
The typhoon packs maximum sustained winds of up to 150 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph.
The weather disturbance is travelling west northwest at the speed of 22 kph.
PAGASA says, the typhoon is gaining strength and may make landfall in Northern Luzon.
The areas which may bear the brunt of the new typhoon are Central and Northern Luzon, especially Batanes.
It has no effect on the country’s weather system at this time.
PAGASA says, rains being experienced in some areas are still effects of typhoon ‘Karen,’ which left PAR at 12 midnight on Sunday.
