QUEZON City Mayor Herbert Bautista is studying the establishment of a new drug rehabilitation to accommodate drug dependents from barangays Lagro, Fairview, North Fairview, Novaliches, Kaligayahan, Pasong Putik, Nagkaisang Nayon, San Agustin, San Bartolome, Sta. Lucia, Sta. Monica, Bagbag, Capri and Gulod, who have surrendered to authorities.

The City Planning and Development Department, headed by Tomasito Cruz, is looking into the possibility of acquiring properties along Quirino Highway to give way the construction of a new rehabilitation center.

“The challenge of building rehabilitation centers is about buying properties,” Bautista said.

The city-run Tahanan located in Barangay Payatas is a drug treatment and rehabilitation center for the city residents.

For the expansion of Tahanan, the city government is looking at 16 properties at Diamond Hills Subdivision along Molave Extension, Payatas as a site for the proposed rehabilitation complex.

Most of the subject properties were either issued notices of tax delinquencies, warrants of levy or certificates of forfeiture, Bautista said.
