New Bilibid Prison’s alleged drug lord Jaybee Sebastian will testify that he was directed by then Justice Secretary Leila De Lima to raise funds for her 2016 senatorial bid.
Sebastian will also say that on January 8, 2016, following an explosion inside the Maximum Security Compound in NBP, he had personally handed to Jonel Sanchez the amount of P 2 million pesos, for De Lima’s campaign fund.
Sanchez was the security aide of De Lima when she was still DOJ Secretary.
Sebastian’s counsel, Atty. Eduardo Ariba, made these initial statements as he sought immunity for his client as he testifies at the House Committee on Justice hearing.
Ariba also asked that Sebastian be placed under the Witness Protection Program (WPP) of the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre said, his decision on whether or not to place Sebastian under WPP will depend on the weight of his testimony.
Sebastian is now testifying at the House hearing.
He says, he thought Sanchez and De Lima had a special relationship because he supposedly heard De Lima addressing Sanchez as "Sweetie."
