Light Rail Manila Corp., a consortium led by Ayala Corp. and Metro Pacific Investments Corp., said it will accelerate the construction of Light Rail Transit Line 1 Cavite extension project to meet the 2019 target completion date.

“We are hoping that we can give the notice to proceed within the year. The target date [of completion] would be 2019.  Hopefully we should be done, but we will see if we can still meet the target,” LRMC president and chief executive Jesus Francisco said.

The project is expected to be fully operational by May 2019.

Francisco said the company was expecting the government to deliver the remaining right of way this month.

“We are waiting for the right of way and we are also awaiting the relocation of the informal settlers. By October, hopefully they [the government] would be able to do that,” Francisco said.
