PNP Chief Ronald Dela Rosa reports, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has conducted 23,474 anti-drug operations across the country from June 30, 2016 up to the present.
He says, a total of 22,387 suspects have been arrested so far.
Dela Rosa places the number of drug suspects killed in the operations in the last 3 months at 1,075.
He presented the figures at the Senate Committee on Justice, which is conducting its fifth hearing on alleged extrajudicial killings.
Dela Rosa estimates, the number of drug suspects killed is a little over 5 percent compared to the number of drug suspects nabbed.
Senator Vicente Sotto III notes, in the past, he had delivered 6 to 7 privilege speeches in which he admonished government for the proliferation of illegal drugs.
After hearing the data from Dela Rosa, Sotto told him, “you actually deserve congratulations.”
