Neri cleared of graft raps

Sandiganbayan has cleared Former Socio-Economic Planning Secretary Romulo Neri of graft charges.

The cases are in connection with the botched $ 329-million national broadband deal with ZTE Corporation of China.

In its resolution, the anti-graft court’s fifth division declared that the evidence presented by the prosecution was insufficient to support the charges.

Sandiganbayan also said, the prosecution failed to prove that Neri had financial or pecuniary interest in the transaction.
