CLARICE and Christine Patrimonio turned the ladies’ finals into the Patrimonio show yesterday in the 35th Philippine Columbian Association Open-Cebuana Lhuillier ATF Tour at the PCA indoor shell-clay court in Paco, Manila.

The 22-year-old Clarice shook off a sluggish first set to deflate older sister Christine’s hopes, 4-6, 6-0, 6-2, in the singles’ finals.

Clarice took home the top purse of P20,000, while Christine, 24, settled for P10,000.

The Patrimonio siblings then combined forces and proved they were the better sister act in the doubles’ competition against Marian Jade and Jella Capadocia, 6-2, (retire).

Marian Jade, who was nursing a flu, tried to shrug off the bug but was too exhausted to keep going in the second set.

The Patrimonios grabbed the P10,000 cash prize, while the Capadocias accepted P5,000 in the ATF event supported by The Philippine Star, Dunlop, Whirlpool-Fujidenzo, Chris Sports, Mary Grace, Aseana City, PVL Restaurant, Maverick, Compass, Babolat, Just Jewels, Rexona, Palm Rock, Coca Cola Femsa Philippines, Pearl Garden Hotel, Pearl Lane Hotel, Sen. Manny Pacquiao, L&M, Broadway Motors, Stronghold Insurance and Monte.

Clarice and Christine arranged a championship showdown by beating Khim Iglupas, 6-7, 6-1, 6-1, and four-time PCA champion Marian, 6-0, 1-0 (ret.), in their respective semifinal matches.

The Patrimonio sisters also defeated Hannah Espinosa and Aileen Rogan, 6-2, 2-6, 10-7, in the doubles semis while the Capadocia siblings ousted Marinel Rudas and Grace Woo, 6-4, 6-1, in the other semifinal pairing.
