UAAP to hold 3-on-3 caging

THREE-on-3 basketball will be introduced in the 79th season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines.

Season 79 president Fr. Ermito de Sagon said this is now in the pipeline, considering this variation of the game of basketball, which will have three players playing for a team, is gaining popularity internationally.

“After the regular basketball season, we will have an exhibition game of 3×3 as a demo sport,” said De Sagon.

This is the second demonstration event added to the calendar, next to ballroom dancing.

Meanwhile, school anthems won’t be performed in the  traditional way, which is after a game has been played.

Hymns will now be sung  before the official warmup period of games.

De Sagon said he thought of this after he noted that most of the hymns were not sung properly after the game because the students have hoarse voices due to the screaming and chanting.

“School hymns are usually sung in the end. But, not everybody sings because their bodies are tired,” explained De Sagon.

He hopes that this will encourage the  players and their supporters to sing their alma mater songs with more intensity.
