Edwards confident of beating IBF flyweight champ Casimero

BRITISH boxer Charlie Edwards, who only has eight fights to his name is confident of beating IBF flyweight champion Johnreil Casimero when they clash at the O2 Arena in London on Sept. 10.

After two, three-minute rounds on the punch-mitts with Danny Vaughan, the trainer said Edwards was “absolutely on.”

The confident, young British boxer followed his punch-mitts routine by going straight into his strength and conditioning session at the Go Fit, Go Box Gym.

Reports from the Gym said Edwards was ripped and ready, even predicting  “Britain will have another world champion, mark my word.”

Meantime, veteran trainer Jhun Agrabio has warned Casimero not to take challenger Edwards for granted.

Agrabio told the Filipino world champion, who won the title by a fourth-round knockout over Thailand’s Amnat Ruenroeng:  “You can’t afford to take him lightly because if you do, you’ll be in deep trouble. They won’t be bringing us over there to see their fighter lose. They must have seen something in Casimero that they believe their fighter can exploit.”

The 26-year-old Casimero, who holds a record of  22-3, with 14 KOs, is in the final stages of his training in Caloocan City and is slated to fly to England on Sept. 4.

Agrabio noted that the 23-year-old Edwards is the type of fighter not to be messed with.

Edwards himself told Sky Sports in London: “Many people think this is too early but believe me when I say this–the IBF world title is coming home with me.”
