BoC seizes gun imports

CUSTOMS Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon expressed apprehension over the discovery of several high-powered firearms from “balikbayan boxes” which were being used by a syndicate to smuggle fire arms into the country, using fictitious consignees.

The high-powered firearms were found in balikbayan boxes that also contained candies but were declared as used household wares.

The seized goods, worth more than P1.9 million, arrived at the Port of Manila only last Thursday, August 11. The imported candies came from China and was consigned to Jolt Aquamarine Foods Corporation.
