Gov. Amado Espino III gave a cash reward to the Pangasinan State University (PSU)-Caboloan Performing Arts Guild who bagged the gold medal at the recently concluded 5th Bali International Choir Festival.
True to his promise, Espino bestowed a P20,000 cash award to the collegiate chorale group during their courtesy call on him recently at the Urduja House, Capitol Compound in Lingayen.
“I am very proud as a governor. I know that their parents, the Pangasinenses and PSU are very proud of them,” he said.
Espino said his predecessor, now Rep. Amado Espino Jr., started a tradition of rewarding Pangasinense international competition participants, especially when they bring home the bacon.
The 18-member Caboloan ensemble was accompanied by representatives from the PSU administration, vice president for sports services extension and training Manolito Manuel, deputy director for culture, arts and heritage studies Romary Lincod, deputy director for public relations, publication and information office Philip Queroda and Lingayen Campus executive director Armando Junio.
Espino advised the chorale group to inspire more young people to hone their talents by sharing them with everyone. He said he also told the Pangasinan Provincial Chorale to train new and young talents who will step in when some of their members retire.
