With the elusive gold yet to be won by our athletes, it begs the question whether we lack the talent or the Olympic Committee is not giving our athlete the highest standard of training that can make them highly competitive in the international arena.

Proving she is just more than a pretty face, the Kapamilya actress spent weeks learning tactical combat, training Pekiti Tirsia Kali (a Filipino martial art), and running with Scout Rangers all for the sake of preparing for her role in the upcoming Erik Matti film, Buy Bust. More than three million viewers have seen the training video in less than a weeks since the file was uploaded on Facebook. Many suggested that this training seems like her preparation for the much-coveted Darna role. Well, we will see about that.

TV5 Olympic Coverage
Has the TV network done anything to enhance our Olympic viewing experience? That’s the million-dollar question. From its terrible coverage of the opening ceremony to the regular competitions in the sporting event, TV5 has given the public a big reason not to trust the network’s capacity to deliver a seamless coverage. Not only that it has given people the impression that nobody in TV5 knows what kind of competition Filipinos enjoy watching, it also validated its being unreliable in handling historic events such as the Olympics.

Rumors are circulating that the host-actress is planning to hop from ABS-CBN over to GMA-7. But will the Kapuso bite the bait? We heard through the grapevine that Kris was not happy when the five-year contract she was asking from the Kapamilya network was cut down to just two years and her take-home pay was reduced to an amount that’s way below her expectation. Perhaps, her mother network has finally realized that she has been given too much attention. Enough already was the network’s new mantra.

Whatever happened to the huge billboard of Jimuel and Michael in Guadalupe is actually none of our business. But it’s good to know that the big tarp is no longer there. For a time, we were bothered by the idea that anyone can be a Bench model even if they don’t have what it takes to be put alongside legitimate image and brand models. We hope that’s the last time the clothing apparel features pseudo-celebrities whose main audience are nobdy but their relatives, and if they’re lucky, some friends.
