The aggressive anti-crime and anti-illegal drug operations carried out by the the Northern Police District and Caloocan-Malabon-Navotas-Valenzuela police stations helped decreased the crime rate, specifically of street crimes in the four localities.
NPD director, Senior Supt. Roberto Fajardo said the crime rate went down after the strict implementation of the Chief PNP’s ‘’Project Double Barrel and Oplan Tokhang Campaign Camanava wide.”
Based on the data presented by the District Investigation and Detection Management Division, NPD for July 2016, robbery was reduced by 6.25 percent, theft cases went down by 31.57 percent, cases of carnapping sank 100 percent and motornapping dropped by 38.46 percent.
This July physical injuries plunged by 66.40 percent.
From July 1 to 26, 2016, 245 suspected drug users or pushers were arrested for violating Republic Act 9165 (the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act) and 51 wanted persons were likewise arrested.
“Crimes such as murders, rape and robberies are committed mostly by persons under the influence of illegal drugs,” said Fajardo.
Fajardo vowed to continue the district’s “no let up” drive against all forms of criminality and illegal drugs activities until the whole of Camanava area is freed from the danger of criminality.
The NPD director also claimed that fighting crime and illegal drugs is a shared responsibility between the police and the community and therefore community support is essential to achieve a peaceful and drug-free community.
