Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. said Monday sales in the first six months of 2016 rose 21 percent to a record 30,372 units.

“We are excited to introduce updates on some of our bestselling models and at the same time come up with more affordable financing plans and promos,” said first vice president for marketing Froilan Dytianquin.

Mitsubishi attributed the robust sales to the stable economy, promotions and several financing options and the company’s extensive vehicle lineup.

The company registered sales increase in all vehicle segments. Sales of passenger cars reached 10,083, up 26 percent year-on-year, led by the Mirage and Mirage G4.

Sales of light commercial vehicles grew 17 percent to 19,421 units. The locally manufactured L300 and Adventure models remained the top choice among small entrepreneurs and migrant Filipino workers because of their value for money and low maintenance cost.

Truck sales reached 854 units which, up 55 percent on year.

Meanwhile, June sales reached 5,771 units, the highest monthly sale so far.  Light commercial vehicles sales grew 21 percent to 3,629 units on year.

Sales of trucks and buses jumped 50 percent from May figures while the new Montero Sport sold 1,146 units, or up 46 percent.

Strong remittances from migrant Filipino workers contributed to the company sales, as well, especially for entry level multi-purpose vehicles such as L300 and Adventure.

With the exceptional first semester performance, Mitsubishi said it was optimistic sales would continue to surge in the coming months.

Dytianquin said the company would double efforts in the remaining six months to sell more than 65,000 units for the year.

Mitsubishi is also focusing on improving and strengthening its after-sales support and customer service with the commitment to provide the highest satisfaction to all valued customers.

Mitsubishi cornered 18 percent of the automotive market and retained its position as the second vehicle leader in the Philippines.
