The Multiple Intelligence International School is one of the pioneering institutions in the country that has been a trailblazer for integrating internationalism and entrepreneurship into its curriculum. Now on its 20th year, it has helped students be future ready by helping them discover their intelligences and give them the opportunity to find careers that match their passion. What is noteworthy is that the MIIS Ready for Life program allows students to gain the exposure to potential career tracks through its internship and mentoring programs.

Some of the programs offered at MIIS for senior high school

Anica Abaquin, a HUMSS (Humanities and Social Sciences) student, excitedly shared that her international exposure as Best Delegate at the Harvard Model Congress International Criminal Court, helped her realize her passion for international relations. Her MIIS Internship in the Philippine Senate helped her realize a potential career path for international governance. “In the future, I hope to be a Filipino who will make a difference in the United Nations,” she shares.

MIIS SHS program partners with organizations and companies who believe in the importance of developing future leaders who will create innovative solutions to help in national development. Ateneo Java Wireless Competency Center (AJWCC) is one of the partners who helped students gain exposure to different solution-based programs such as eBayanihan, a web disaster system. The MIIS STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) students were inspired to think of their own solutions. Through developing this mindset, MIIS students recently won the TechClash Challenge where students designed their own applications to solve a problem.

Real world experience in the various SHS tracks – STEM, GAS, HUMS and ABM- such as the medical profession, broadcasting, retail, social entrepreneurship, government, legal and the hotel and restaurant industry is the MIIS SHS advantage. Leon Fernandez wants to be an architect in the future. During his internship at ArkiNetwork, he learned to digitize the design of Architect Marcos de Guzman, which inspired him to make his own designs. It is interesting how MIIS students are excited learners who as early as high school have found a goal to work for.

Teacher Joy Abaquin, founding director of MIIS explains, “The MIIS SHS program is unique because it gives the students the global advantage of being work and life ready by helping them convert their interest or strong intelligence into a skill. We give students the 21st century skills needed to be globally competitive leaders and at the same time unique opportunities such as international study tours for exposure to innovative ideas.  We focus on giving our students the global advantage through our 3 E’s – Exposure, Experience and Experts.

The MIIS Senior High School Program also puts strong focus on leadership and entrepreneurship for sustainable development, which has always been one of the school’s core disciplines. Since 2000, the youth entrepreneurship program from preschool to upper school has successfully instilled an entrepreneurial mindset among students, recognized by Go Negosyo as a Youth Enabler institution. With the MIIS SHS Program, students and parents invest not only in good education but also in a good future.

At MIIS, Senior High School is a most exciting phase in a student’s life. It is the time when students realize their fullest potential and discover their passion. Students are equipped through the Ready for Life program with personal skills for leadership and learning beyond the classroom. MIIS students are learning to be ready for the world.
