NGCP supports bill

SAN FERNANDO—National Grid Corp. of the Philippines urged the government to issue a legislation that will penalize violators of right-of-way.

National Grid spokesman Cynthia Perez-Alabanza said the move would help ensure that right-of-way issues such as building structures below transmission facilities were addressed.

“There’s pending bill,” Perez-Alabanza said.

National Grid, meanwhile, lauded local government units for supporting moves to address transmission tower bombings and other right-of-way issues not only in Mindanao but the entire grid.

National Grid also said various cities in Mindanao had unanimously stated their support for an earlier resolution of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Misamis Oriental condemning the spate of tower bombings.

Representatives of the Sangguniang Panglungsod of the cities of Dapitan, Oroquieta, Zamboanga, Cotabato, and Malaybalay acknowledged the detrimental effect of tower bombings, especially Tower 25 in Ramain, Lanao del Sur, which isolated the Agus hydroplants from the grid, to the already vulnerable socio-economic and peace and order situation of Mindanao.
