Food provision is key to effective weight loss

A goal with a plan is said to have a higher success rate – and this holds true to many things including weight loss. In fact, several studies revealed that people who follow structured meal plans designed to help them shed extra pounds actually lost more weight than those who did not plan their meals ahead.

However, the actual planning and preparation is a challenge for individuals who are busy or unskilled in the kitchen. This is where food provision comes in handy.

Cohen Meals on Wheels’ Beef Stroganoff

In a study published in the US National Library of Medicine’s website, the participants who were provided meals in a specific time frame lost more weight than those who did not receive food provision.

Fortunately for clients following the Cohen Lifestyle Program in the Philippines, they have Cohen Meals on Wheels providing customized nutritious food that aid in rapid weight loss.

“We aim to provide a solution to clients who find it a challenge to prepare their own meals daily,” says chef Pixie Sevilla, a former Cohen follower who now leads a team of chefs preparing the weekly menu of Cohen Meals on Wheels.

“The temptation of clients to cheat mostly comes from the lack of time to prepare their meals. Or if they do have time, they tend to prepare the same meals over and over again. We make sure that we prepare their meals accurately and we plan the menu in such a way that they will look forward to it every day and will enjoy eating them as well,” elaborates Chef Pixie.

One of the growing number of clients benefitting from the convenience the food delivery service provides is obstetrician-gynecologist and assistant professor Dr. Ryan Capitulo.

“I don’t know how to cook and I don’t have the time to prepare my own meals. Cohen Meals on Wheels has definitely helped me follow my meal plans and lose weight,” shares Dr. Capitulo.

In four and a half months of following his personalized Cohen meal plan, Dr. Capitulo, who previously weighed more than 300 pounds has lost 88 pounds.

Pharmaceutical company fights against pediculosis

Delousing of the public school children in Barangay Barangka, Mandaluyong City using Permethrin (Kwell)

Head lice infestation (pediculosis) continues to plague young Filipinos, so much so that it is now considered the second most common health problem of children 12 years old and below.

Lice are tiny, bloodsucking wingless parasites that inhabit the human hair and feed on the tiny amounts of blood in the scalp. Incessant head scratching may lead to scalp infection.

To aid mothers who opened up to their local health providers about their children suffering from head itchiness, South African-based pharmaceutical company Aspen, through its Philippine arm, launched “Alis Kuto Program” in 2014.

During the “Alis Kuto” day in June last year, 150 children from Barangay Barangka in Mandaluyong City, together with their parents, learned about head hygiene and participated in games and other interactive activities. The highlight of the program was the delousing of children using Aspen’s Permethrin (Kwell) shampoo.

The said program earned Aspen Philippines the 2015 Aspen Asia Community Involvement Award. It also serves as the company’s way of commemorating Mandela Day – a celebration that calls on everyone to “Take action and inspire change.”

“This might be one of the most commonplace projects, but as long as we are able to touch lives and improve its quality, we take pride in doing it,” enthuses Aspen consumer healthcare product manager Earl Jayona.
