SECOND-RUNNING Mahindra is about to face yet another stiff test as it returns to action in the 2016 Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup.

Sitting in solo second place with their impressive 3-1 card, the Enforcers will once again look to shock everyone when they take on a tough challenge from a streaking Barangay Ginebra (2-2) today at 7 p.m. at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

In the first game at 4:15 p.m., an equally intriguing clash takes place as Blackwater (2-2) battles Philippine Cup champion San Miguel Beer (1-1).

The sophomore squad Mahindra is enjoying its best start in a young PBA career.

They are armed with a two-game winning streak, but so are the rejuvenated Gin Kings, who have recovered nicely after a 0-2 start.

Coaches from both squads like how their respective teams are progressing as the conference approaches the mid-point of the elimination round.

“We’re staying composed now,” said Mahindra coach Chito Victolero. “Naging matured na rin ‘yung mga players. They now know how to win and how to close out games.”

“The good news for our team right now is that we’re settling down,” said Ginebra tactician Tim Cone. “We’re not panicking and we’re working our way better.”

Both teams are coming off hard-fought victories in their last assignments.

Mahindra withstood NLEX, 106-99, last Friday, boosted by the 30-point performance of import Augustus Gilchrist, while Ginebra came up with a huge 92-87 win over Star last Sunday.

San Miguel Beer also seemed to have found its form after a quick championship hangover.

After a stunning loss to Mahindra to open their campaign, the Beermen bounced back mightily last Friday, pouncing on GlobalPort, 120-109, to even their slate.

Import Tyler Wilkerson showed how much of a weapon he can be, exploding for a season-high 52 points in that SMB win against the Batang Pier.

On the other hand, the Elite have alternated wins with losses thus far in its four games.

Blackwater suffered a back-breaking 103-122 setback at the hands of the Hotshots last week.

The Elite are now looking to bounce back to keep their place in the middle of the pack.
