Regal’s ‘Shake Rattle & Roll’ gives way to ‘Haunted Mansion’

REGAL Entertainment’s highly successful Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) horror trilogy franchise, Shake, Rattle & Roll, gives way this year to an even hair-raising, spine-chilling, bloodier, horrifying theater experience as the mother and daughter tandem of Lily and Roselle Monteverde field Haunted Mansion right on Christmas Day.

Directed by multi-awarded Jun Lana, Haunted Mansion features three of today’s freshest and hottest young faces Janella Salvador, Marlo Mortel, Jerome Ponce, together with stellar casts Janice de Belen, Iza Calzado and talented actors Joem Bascon, LJ Reyes, Dominic Ochoa with uprising showcase of the teenage actors and actresses Sharlene San Pedro, Ingrid de la Paz, Devon Seron, Eliza Pineda, Phytos Ramirez, and Paulo Gumabao.

In the movie, Janella is gifted girl Ella, who sees dead people around her. The last time she used her gift to communicated with spirits, though, resulted in her father’s death. Her schoolmates who often bully Janella, initiated a prank and insidiously awakened the evil spirits, Amara (Iza Calzado) and Veronika (LJ Reyes) from the past. In the midst of the students’ adventure, dormant ghosts in the retreat house are disturbed and so, they wreak havoc on Ella and her friends.

Ella (Janella Salvador) and her friends accidentally discovers the mystery surrounding the twin deaths, and so, Amara’s vengeful spirit returns to try to stop them from spilling the truth. In this movie, the audience will experience the evil wrath of the vicious ghost Amara.

“Haunted Mansion stands to be one of Regal’s biggest MMFF offerings,” says Direk Jun, “and I’m excited for everyone to see it. Not everyone knows that we have been developing this project for Regal for years.”

He adds, “Binusisi talaga namin ang kuwento. We also made sure to start the shoot earlier para mapaganda lalo ang mga eksena, siguruhing nakakatakot at mapapasigaw ang audiences ‘pag naanood sila. This is the kind of film you want to watch together with your family and barkada.”

Haunted Mansion, this year’s only ultimate horror screamfest, opens in cinemas nationwide on Dec. 25. The whole cast has been touring different malls that kicked off Nov. 19. You can still catch the whole cast live on the following mall tours on Dec. 19 at Gaisano Cebu and Dec. 20 at SM Novaliches.

Kapuso programs dominate Mega Manila ratings

GMA Network asserts its leadership as its programs continue to dominate Mega Manila ratings.

Based on household data from the industry’s most-trusted ratings service provider Nielsen TV Audience Measurement, 22 out of the 30 highest-rating programs in Mega Manila from Nov. 30 to Dec. 6 are from GMA.

 Leading the list is the consistent top-rater Magpakailanman, which was the no.1 program in Mega Manila in November. Eat Bulaga, driven by the continued success of its kalyeserye segment, followed closely at no. 2, while multi-awarded news magazine program Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho landed at no.3.

Meanwhile, the well-loved family sitcom Pepito Manaloto remains one of the highest-rating Kapuso programs entering the list at no. 4. Undeniably the viewers’ preferred program every Saturday night, it has always been consistent in bringing fun and laughter in each episode.

Also occupying the top spots on the list are Ismol Family, MariMar, 24 Oras, Little Nanay, and 24 Oras Weekend.

Imbestigador, Sunday PinaSaya, Because of You, Vampire ang Daddy Ko, Karelasyon, and The Half Sisters also delivered strong ratings performances and made it to the top programs list.

Not to be outdone are Celebrity Bluff, Destiny Rose, IMBG 20 I am Bubble Gang, Buena Familia, Wowowin, The Ryzza Mae Show presents: Princess in the Palace and Kapuso Primetime Cinema.

With more twists and new surprises coming their way, viewers can expect only the best from the Kapuso Network as it promises to deliver quality news and entertainment content.

Erap recalls Da King as pressure mounts on Grace Poe

The former President now Mayor of Manila Joseph “Erap” Estrada can’t help but be dismayed at how some people can mount enormous pressure on Senator Grace Poe and her bid to be the next President of the Republic.

Estrada is Poe-Llamanzares’s godfather According to Erap, he can’t just turn his back on his goddaughter being FPJ’s best friend.

 In an interview in a radio program recently, Erap said attempts to disqualify Grace from running in next year’s elections are but machinations of her political opponents.

 “Sa aking pananaw, kung hindi siya kandidatong presidente, hindi naman malalabas yan… Pero ngayong kandidato nang presidente, hinahanapan na ng butas,” Erap said.

Is it with certainty that Grace is Erap’s bet as the presidential candidate? Why not? After all she is the daughter of his best friend that he considers more than a brother.

“As far as I am concerned, she is a Filipina because she was born in the Philippines. She was elected as senator. Vox populi, vox Dei. The voice of the people is the voice of God. Let the people decide,” Erap insisted.
