In line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable economic growth, informal workers in Occidental Mindoro received livelihood support through the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) livelihood program. This initiative marks a significant step in empowering local entrepreneurs in the community.
“Kami po ay taos-pusong nagpapasalamat sa DOLE sa ipinagkaloob po ninyong livelihood starter kits sa amin. Malaking tulong po ito para makapagpatuloy kami ng aming kabuhayan at matulungan pa ang pangangailangan ng aming pamilya. Maraming salamat po sa inyong suporta at pagtitiwala,” said DILP beneficiary Rosemelie E. Picarzo, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the livelihood package from the Department during a ceremonial turnover held recently at the DOLE Occidental Mindoro Provincial Office in San Jose.
A total of P140,120.00 was awarded to five individual beneficiaries under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP). The beneficiaries included Picarzo, who was granted a package for her burger stand; Ulysses Panes, who received beauty salon equipment to augment current business; and Goodwin Baliguat, a fisherman from Barangay San Roque, who was provided with fishing equipment to improve his livelihood. Meanwhile, Mr. Ernan Declito of Barangay Bagong Sikat received a package to boost his polvoron production enterprise, while Ms. Nonabel Gallego was awarded a carinderia package to help improve her food service operations.
DOLE Provincial Director Peter James D. Cortazar emphasized that this support is not merely a handout but a significant move to boost the economic capacities of the beneficiaries, underscoring the agency’s commitment to empowering vulnerable and marginalized sectors.
Through continued initiatives like this, DOLE reaffirms its dedication to uplifting the lives of Filipinos, with a strong emphasis on strengthening small businesses in local communities. END/ro4b/mgsf
