Over a thousand families who graduated from the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) are now running their small businesses through livelihood assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
In a roundtable discussion during the 4Ps 17th anniversary celebration, Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns Officer-in-Charge Leilani M. Reynoso shared that the Department has assisted 1,180 exited 4Ps beneficiaries with P29 million in livelihood assistance.
She also emphasized that the program contributes not only to easing the economic burden of families but also to the success of other government efforts, particularly the elimination and prevention of child labor.
Based on recent data, DOLE has supported 5,709 parents of child laborers through livelihood packages amounting to P158 million.
Reynoso also shared that the Department continues to open employment opportunities for skilled 4Ps beneficiaries through nationwide job fairs.
The BWSC also stressed the importance of a holistic and collaborative approach from the government and its partners to sustain and expand the impact of 4Ps interventions.
In response to the President’s call for government agencies to push for better and faster implementation of programs and services, the DOLE continues to reaffirm its commitment to efficiently deliver its flagship programs that will significantly benefit its clientele, including the exited 4Ps beneficiaries.
