In response to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s call to strengthen efforts for Filipino workers, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), through the Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC), continues its conduct of Employees’ Compensation Program (ECP) advocacy seminars nationwide.
The activity aims to further deepen participants’ understanding of the importance of social protection and raise awareness of the compensation benefits offered through the ECP to safeguard the Filipino workforce.
In its recent leg held in Balud and Masbate City, over 300 participants were oriented on workers’ protection and the various social security benefits provided under ECP.
Attendees included members of the Social Security System (SSS) and Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), self-employed individuals, management and union representatives, uniformed personnel, local government units (LGUs), the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), and barangay staff.
Similar advocacy activities were also held in June in the National Capital Region, Cagayan Valley, and Central Visayas, where over 380 barangay personnel, administrative and medical staff members, and public and private sector professionals received ECP orientation.
In addition to the goals of ECP, the activity also tackled topics such as violence against women and children (VAWC) and other gender-responsive initiatives.
Through the advocacy campaign, ECC further expands the reach of its program to engage more barangays, particularly in remote locations, and support DOLE’s mission to empower Filipino workers, whom President Marcos Jr. has described as the country’s “greatest asset.”
