TEAM Philippines continued to seek a slot in the 2026 World Junior Curling championships.
The Dylan Skaggs-led squad repulsed Spain, 4-3, Thursday evening at the ongoing World Junior-B Curling Championships 2025 in Lohja, Finland.
A stone scored in the ninth end gave the Philippine side its second win in five matches in Group A.
“They are a solid 4 in their round-robin A division. They won against Slovakia and Spain,” said their coach Sheila Mariano, in an online interview with the Manila Standard.
Members of team Philippines also includes Tyler Skaggs, Felix Hester and Eljiah Mojado.
The win allowed the Philippines to bounce back from a 3-5 loss to Germany, which leads the bracket after staying unbeaten after five games.
Turkey, which toppled the Philippines, 4-12, is behind at 5-1.
So far, Italy, Norway, Scotland, Korea, Denmark (as hosts), Japan and Canada have already earned slots in the 2026 event.
This time, the top three men’s teams and top three women’s teams will qualify in the Group A tournament in Tårnby, Denmark.
