Sta. Rosa, Laguna — Golf is about to hit a new level of excitement as The International Series Philippines presented by BingoPlus takes center stage at Sta. Elena Golf Club from October 23 to 26, bringing together top Asian Tour players and an atmosphere that fuses sport, music, and Filipino passion.
This isn’t the usual quiet, conservative golf event. The buzz around Sta. Elena is electric — a blend of LIV Golf energy and Pinoy hospitality, with world-class swings unfolding against the rhythm of live music and crowd cheers. Even before the first tee-off, the vibe is unmistakably fresh and modern, setting the tone for what could be Manila’s most memorable golf week yet.
At the press conference, several of the tournament’s biggest names shared their excitement. Gaganjeet Bhullar of India, an 11-time Asian Tour champion, was among the first to praise the Philippines’ growing golf culture. “When I told the airport officer I was here for The International Series, he instantly knew what I meant — that shows how much golf has grown here in the Philippines,” Bhullar said. In fine form this season, he added that his focus remains sharp: “I’ve been visualizing, meditating, and grinding in the gym — ready to battle it out with the young guns.”
Fresh off his victory at the Jakarta International Championship, Wade Ormsby of Australia arrived with quiet confidence. “Sta. Elena’s looking perfect. I just wanna enjoy my golf and go low out there,” he said, exuding the calm assurance of a man ready for another big run.
Germany’s Dominic Foos, who recently broke a 29-year drought for his country by winning the SJM Macao Open, said it was an honor to be mentioned alongside German golf legend Bernhard Langer. “It’s special to be part of that history,” Foos said. “Hopefully, this week inspires young golfers here the way Tiger inspired me.”
Meanwhile, Steve Lewton of Great Britain, who captured the 2017 Solaire Philippine Open crown, was simply happy to be back on familiar turf. “Always awesome to be back in the Philippines — good vibes, good people, good golf,” he said with a grin.
Beyond the fairways, The International Series Philippines offers a full-on festival atmosphere that’s unlike anything local fans have seen. The driving range pulses with live DJ beats as players warm up, while fans enjoy immersive experiences across the grounds — from premium lounges and gourmet dining to open-air concerts and chill-out zones. It’s golf, but with a distinctly Filipino flair — vibrant, inclusive, and full of life.
As the tournament tees off, excitement continues to build. The mix of elite competition, entertainment, and community spirit is redefining how the sport is experienced in the Philippines. For players and fans alike, Sta. Elena Golf Club isn’t just hosting a tournament this week — it’s hosting a movement. (Photo from Let’s Golf Pare)
