Romantic comedies often rely on familiar formulas, but Meg & Ryan finds fresh ground in an unexpected pairing that works.
Rhian Ramos and JC Santos star in the film, which opened nationwide on Aug. 6, bringing to life two characters from opposite worlds whose paths collide in an unlikely love story.
Directed by Catherine Camarillo and produced by Pocket Media Productions, the film follows Meg Zamonte, a wealthy party girl coping with grief and addiction, and Ryan Cañete, a 35-year-old introvert raised in a conservative household.
A spontaneous night together turns into a relationship challenged by personal struggles, clashing values, and second chances.

Rhian plays Meg with layered vulnerability, capturing both her recklessness and fragility. JC turns in an understated, endearing performance as Ryan, stepping away from his usual roles to portray an awkward but sincere character. Their chemistry, built on quiet glances as much as tender exchanges, drew praise at the premiere.
The leads share a chemistry that feels lived-in and unforced, surprising given it is their first big-screen pairing. Who knew these two had such electric onscreen chemistry? Their connection unfolds not only in intimate scenes but also in small, telling moments.
The supporting cast adds interesting flavor to the plot. Ces Quesada and JC share warm, believable scenes as mother and son. Cris Villanueva brings nuance to Meg’s strained relationship with her father. Warren Osinaga, in his acting debut, earns genuine laughs despite limited screen time.
Tasteful cinematography and Catherine’s steady direction keep the tone grounded, even in daring sequences. While the pacing leaves some room for tightening, Meg & Ryan succeeds as a charming, kilig-filled romance anchored by a pairing that proves more compelling than expected.
