President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. emphasized the crucial role of women in addressing the world’s most pressing problems, saying societies cannot overcome global challenges if women are left out of decision-making.
Speaking at the 70th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, Mr. Marcos said women’s participation is essential in shaping solutions to issues such as conflict, climate change, and economic uncertainty.
“We cannot hope to solve the great challenges of our time if half of our humanity is excluded from shaping those solutions,” President Marcos said.
The Filipino leader said women must be represented wherever key decisions are made including in government, business, science, diplomacy, and peacebuilding. He added that empowering women is not only a matter of fairness but a cornerstone of nation-building.
President Marcos also highlighted the Philippines’ efforts to promote gender equality through policies that strengthen protections for women, expand access to education and employment, and encourage women’s leadership across sectors.
