It’s raining cats and dogs in the Philippines, even as Severe Tropical Storm “Paolo” clears out.
Luckily, Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson has a resolution — though only for one cat and one dog.
“Help! Is there a veterinary clinic with an animal psychiatric ward? We have a crazy cat that keeps meowing on the ground floor and an annoying dog that keeps barking on the upper floor,” Lacson posted on social media.
While the senator raises a valid concern about animal mental health, word on the pound is that the proverbial “crazy cat” refers to none other than Cavite 4th District Rep. Francisco “Kiko” Barzaga.
Incidentally, the said lawmaker keeps meowing from the lower chamber and has been teased to have nine lives, the way he’s been clawing at fellow House members with TikToks.
As for the “annoying dog,” it’s anyone’s guess.
Defensive netizens, however, speculate that this is Sen. Rodante Marcoleta, who is Lacson’s predecessor as Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chairman leading the upper chamber’s widely publicized probe on flood control projects.
“Don’t bark up the wrong tree,” or so they say, as dogs only bark when thieves lurk.
Cat’s out of the bag, but Lacson’s animal shrink notice was linked further with Barzaga following his Friday post looking out for the latter’s “mental state.”
He warned that political groups were showing what he described as malicious intent by exploiting the Dasmariñas congressman to advance their own agenda.
“I feel for our dear friend, Mayor Jenny Barzaga. As the mayor of Dasmariñas City, she must have her hands full serving her constituents. The last thing she needs is the evil-mindedness of people who use her son Kiko’s mental state to advance their self-seeking political agenda,” Lacson said.
