The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) announced Friday the resignation of Commissioner Rossana Fajardo, which will take effect on December 31, 2025.
Fajardo’s departure marks the third resignation from the fact-finding body, following the resignations of Commissioner Rogelio Singson early this month and Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong in September.
As a result of these resignations, the ICI will now consist solely of Chairman Andres Reyes Jr.
Fajardo did not provide a reason for her resignation.
She said since her appointment in September 2025, she has been dedicated to furthering the Commission’s goals, especially in the realms of financial oversight and investigations into infrastructure projects.
“During my time in office, I have formulated thorough strategies for evidence collection, crafted detailed work plans, and overseen volunteer contributions in investigations,” Fajardo said in her letter made public by the ICI on December 26.
“I have fulfilled the objectives I aimed to achieve upon my appointment, ensuring that the foundational aims of the Commission have been realized. I believe that the investigative and prosecutorial duties will now be assumed by other entities, such as the Department of Justice and the Office of the Ombudsman, which are more suitably equipped to guarantee accountability for contractors and government officials,” she added.
Fajardo noted that with the recent emphasis on legislation for the establishment of the Independent Commission Against Infrastructure Corruption and the Independent People’s Commission, a permanent commission with enhanced authority will be more effective in assisting the Ombudsman’s office in prosecuting those involved in irregular government infrastructure projects.
“I am thankful for the chance to contribute to a shared mission that emphasizes the well-being of our citizens,” she said.
