Philippine National Police (PNP) acting chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. on Monday, December 22, inspected stalls selling firecrackers in Bocaue, Bulacan.
Nartatez was accompanied by Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando and Central Luzon police chief Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Peñones Jr. during the inspection.
He said the inspection aims to ensure peace and order and public safety, and to reduce the risks of death, injuries, and property loss from firecracker-related incidents.
The PNP Firearms and Explosives Office reiterated its warning against the use of illegal firecrackers, including piccolo, watusi, five star, Judas belt, atomic bomb, giant whistle bomb, and other prohibited and oversized firecracker and pyrotechnic devices.
Fernando thanked Nartatez for the inspection, saying it highlights police commitment to safe holiday celebrations while stressing the need to support small businesses that sustain Bulacan’s fireworks industry.
