The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Sunday, Dec.21, reported the arrest of two suspects in alleged cigarettes smuggling attempt in General Santos City.
CIDG acting director Maj. Gen. Robert Alexander Morico II said the suspects, identified as Mohaymen, 30, and Camil, 55, were apprehended during an operation launched in coordination with the Bureau of Customs in Region 12 in Barangay Lagao, General Santos City.
Some P500,000 worth of smuggled cigarettes and a white minivan vehicle used in the illicit transaction was confiscated by the raiding team.
“Rest assured that the CIDG is steadfast in enforcing all the laws, and relentless in its fight against all forms of criminalities. The unit urges the public to report all illegal activities in their localities, and the CIDG will do the rest,” Morico said.
