The Commission on Elections (Comelec) reported that more than 31,000 individuals registered on the first day of the nationwide voter registration for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections.
Comelec data showed 31,899 new registrants as of October 20, with 1,257 coming from Metro Manila and the rest from various regions across the country.
Region IV-A (Calabarzon) led the turnout with 8,290 registrants, followed by Region III (Central Luzon) with 4,100, Region XII (SOCCSKSARGEN) with 1,999, and Region XI (Davao) with 1,867.
Comelec chair George Garcia said the seven-month registration period, which runs until May 18, 2026, aims to enlist 1.4 million new voters nationwide.
Registration is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at all local Comelec offices and satellite sites, covering new registration, transfer, correction of entries, and reactivation of records. Vito Barcelo
