The Gabriela Women’s party-list strongly condemned the reported arrest of a woman who allegedly sold more than ₱15 million worth of relief goods from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) which aids that should have been distributed free of charge to disaster victims.
“While so many families affected by various calamities are waiting for immediate assistance, there are savages who are still using this to make money. They have no conscience!” said Gabriela Women’s party-list Rep. Sarah Elago.

At the same time, the group called on the DSWD leadership to immediately investigate if there were any officials or staff who might be involved in the irregularity.
