House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III on Tuesday said he would meet with Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla to discuss all possible ways of ensuring the immediate return of resigned Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Elizaldy “Zaldy” Co to the Philippines.
Dy committed the House’s full cooperation with authorities in bringing Co home.
According to the him, Co was given only until Monday to return to the Philippines, with the House Committee on Ethics prepared to move forward with disciplinary action should he fail to comply.
The Speaker said that resigned lawmaker would have been suspended and eventually expelled from the House if he continued to defy directives and failed to return home on Monday to face allegations against him.
“But he (Co) did submit his resignation. So we think that it is up to the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the ICI (Independent Commission for Infrastructure) to decide what they can impose,” Dy said in mix of English and Filipino.
“I strongly say that even though he is no longer in the House, everyone will work together to bring Zaldy Co back here to face the allegations against him,” he added.
