DepEd launches Aral Program in General Trias

GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite — The Department of Education formally launched the regional level of the Aral Program for Calabarzon on Saturday at Santiago Integrated High School in Barangay Santiago.

The event was hosted by DepEd General Trias.

Education Undersecretary Felimon Ray Javier said the ARAL-Reading program aims to support learners who fall below expected reading proficiency levels and help them catch up with grade-level expectations.

Assistant Secretary Georgina Ann Yang also attended, along with city officials led by Mayor Luis Ferrer IV, Congressman Antonio Ferrer, and Vice Mayor Jonas Labuguen.

The local government of General Trias donated 219 laptops for teachers and provided reading materials and school supplies for students. Mayor Ferrer said the initiative reflects the city’s commitment to raising education standards through full support for the school system. Dennis Abrina

The ARAL program, based on a DepEd memorandum, will begin in the second quarter of school year 2025–2026. It offers free tutorials for Grades 1 to 10 learners with reading gaps, using targeted instruction to improve proficiency. Regional and division officials also attended and signed a commitment pledge.ax
