LPA develops into tropical depression ‘Lannie’

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on early Saturday morning announced that the low pressure area west of northern Luzon had developed into tropical depression “Lannie.”

The tropical cyclone’s center was last estimated based on all available data at 315 kilometers west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur, moving westward at 15 kilometers per hour (kph).

It had maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gusts of up to 55 kph.

According to PAGASA, Lannie will move generally northwestward until Monday before turning west-northwestward through the rest of the forecast period.

The tropical depression is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by this morning or afternoon.

It is also forecast to intensify into a tropical storm tonight or early tomorrow.
