The 10th Field Artillery “Rolling Thunder” Battalion (10FAB) of the Philippine Army (PA) partnered with local radio station DXVL and ACDI Kabacan Branch to conduct an outreach program at Cuyapon Elementary School on August 15.
In a statement on Monday, the PA said that Cuyapon Elementary, located in Barangay Capuyon, was chosen due to its vulnerability to flooding.
The surrounding sitios [neighborhoods] of Upper Silangan, Lower Silangan, and Pangatog serve as natural catch basins, forcing many students to travel by boat or wade through floodwaters just to attend school.
A total of 158 students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 received assistance. The program distributed 77 hygiene kits for Grades 4 to 6 to promote personal health and 101 school supply kits for Kindergarten to Grade 3 pupils.
School principal Glyziel Anne Graviles thanked the organizers, saying the activity delivered not just supplies but also “a strong message of compassion and hope” to the learners.
Organizers said the collaboration demonstrated the shared commitment of the military, media, and cooperative sectors to support education and strengthen community resilience.
