Newly named Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Dave Gomez launched a comprehensive performance audit of Malacañang’s communications arm, emphasizing reform and review over personnel shakeups.
“I need to conduct a fair, honest-to-goodness, and unbiased performance audit of the office… It’s really very urgent,” Gomez told Palace reporters.
“We started this morning, several more meetings this afternoon and tomorrow. All heads, I want to sit down with them one-on-one with them and conduct an honest-to-goodness performance audit,” he added.
Unlike previous leadership transitions marked by immediate restructuring, Gomez said he would not seek the courtesy resignations of current officials, nor make new appointments, for now.
The PCO chief is scheduled to meet with members of the Malacañang Press Corps on Tuesday.
“Let’s listen, we’ll see how we can improve the coverage of the President, not me.. It should be about the President, the President’s programs, the President’s policies, and how I can help communicate it better and socialize those,” Gomez said.
“The priority is to communicate the programs and the policies of the president, promote press freedom, and the digital transformation of the PCO. So we need to expand the digital footprint,” he added.
