The Grounded Artist Network, a group of artists from various creative subcultures and practices, shines the spotlight on grassroots and emerging artists at its ongoing online exhibit.

“States of Cadence: Exhibit 1”, the first of the two-part series, features works by 18 artists chosen in line with the group’s focus on holistic lifestyle and community, and its ocean environmental awareness advocacy.

The artists were tasked to create a series that reflects the way they see the collective energy of today’s world.

Featured artist Archie Geotina showcases limited edition prints of the PEARLS series of black and white photographs of Filipino women surfing in traditional terno and Filipiniana gowns.

Also among the artists in the group show are Michael Eijansantos, an ocean photographer who published the Philippines’ first surfing coffee table book (Locals Perspectives); Natalia Larrauri, a budding film photographer in Siargao who aims to normalize the expression of the woman’s body; and artist and designer Mikee Silva whose works take an optimistically comical look into our everyday existence.

“States of Cadence” also presents the glow-in-the-dark works of Alecca Adarna and Corina Borromeo; and the watercolor paintings of Nikki Ocean and Swedish artist Camila Öster Yu.

Grounded has also connected with Filipino artists living abroad, such as husband and wife artist-duo Christopher and Maddie Camcam from the United States and Chiara Daez Capony from Belgium. Completing the list are Ana Abigail, Luis Antonio Pastoriza, Gringo Benedicto, Melissa Lara, Lucia Fischer, JP Sarmiento, and Jof Sering.
