Boracay resort wins global honors, Palawan named top dive spot

Discovery Boracay and Discovery Coron have earned fresh international accolades, cementing their place among Asia’s top luxury resorts.

Discovery Boracay, a 99-suite resort on Boracay’s Station 1, was named one of the Best Hotels in the Philippines at the DestinAsian Readers’ Choice Awards 2025 and listed among Travel + Leisure’s Top 500 Hotels. The property also swept several categories at the Haute Grandeur Global Excellence Awards, including Best Honeymoon Hotel in Asia and Best Luxury Resort in the Philippines.

Over in Palawan, Discovery Coron — a private island hideaway once known as Club Paradise — was honored with the Department of Tourism’s Filipino Brand of Service Excellence Award and the Good Travel Seal from global sustainability group Green Destinations. The resort was also ranked among the Best Beach, Island, and Upcountry Resorts in the Philippines at the Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific 2025.

Its general manager, Joegil Magtanggol Escobar, was named the Top General Manager in the Philippines, before leading the property to more trophies at the Haute Grandeur Awards, including Best Dive Resort in Asia and Best Eco-Friendly Hotel in the Philippines.

“We share this recognition with our very own GEMs (Guest Experience Makers), whose dedication creates meaningful stays,” Escobar said. “We are proud to be recognized for both sustainability and hospitality that feels like coming home.”

Both resorts, part of Discovery Resorts under Discovery World Corp. and managed by Discovery Hospitality Corp., have rebranded in recent years, a shift that executives say shows their vision to create “happy places” rooted in heartfelt service and Filipino warmth.
